With the Michigan City Economic Development Corporation working for you, your business can benefit from a large range of start-up and ongoing incentives and tax relief. The MCEDC has the ability to efficiently bring together the people that can best benefit your business - local government, utility companies, lending institutions, and other public/private organizations.
And we're not just for new business either. The MCEDC has helped many existing area businesses grow and expand, faster and larger than they could have independently. In one year alone, the MCEDC filled 700,000 square feet of vacant industrial space to within 75% capacity. We provide support to existing businesses by setting up a site selection analysis, reviewing proposed layouts, providing a customized Cost-of-Doing-Business Analysis, and providing workforce assistance. The MCEDC also helps secure business growth financing, tax incentives, and help prepare presentations for local, state, and federal grants.
We offer many services, tailored to the individual businesses we work with including:
- Customized Incentive Packages
- Approval Process Assistance
- Site Selection Assistance
- State and Regulatory Guidance
- Financing Options
- Workforce Evaluation, Training, and Assistance
- Multi-media City Orientation Presentation
- Critical Business Issue Assistance
- And for existing businesses, we also offer specialized programs including:
- The Business Visitation Program
An onsite Business Needs Assessment is available to interested companies, conducted by the Mayor, MCEDC Director, and various MCEDC board members. Through facilitation of open communication between local business and city government, the MCEDC can put into motion specific plans to benefit business and industry, as well as providing a forum to ensure issues and concerns are voiced.
- The Business-to-Business Network
We help facilitate the exchange of ideas and economies that help businesses remain competitive through initiating networking programs between area businesses and area business associations.
- State Assistance Development
Working with local companies, the MCEDC assists in obtaining grants from state and local government to cover training/infrastructure costs.
- The Tax Abatement Program
Working with local and state governments, the MCEDC ensures graduated real estate and personal property tax relief is available to qualifying companies.
