Zoo Closed For Comcast Cares Day
The Washington Park Zoo will be closed to the public on May 3rd for Comcast Cares Day. VOLUNTEERS are being recruited to help clean-up and assist with a few special projects at the Washington Park Zoo on Saturday May 3rd. Comcast employees, their families, and friends will also be volunteering their time to help at the zoo. Comcast is paying for the materials for the improvements to be accomplished at the zoo and will also provide breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and t-shirts to all volunteers that come to the zoo to assist. The more volunteers we have, the more we help the zoo. Volunteers can help serve food, help with gardening tasks, plant flowers, help with the rock terrace, minor carpentry work, and much more. The Comcast Cares Day has contributed more than 405,000 hours nationwide and supported hundreds of community initiatives. If you’d like to get involved, please call the Michigan City Parks Office at 873-1506 to request a “Volunteer Registration and Release of Liability Agreement” form that is required.
