Memberships - FAQ

Q: How long is my membership active?
A: Your Zoo membership will be valid for one year from the month of purchase. For example, if you join June 15, 2008, your membership expires June 30, 2009.

Q: How long after I purchase a Zoo membership will I receive my membership card?
A: Your membership card should arrive 7-10 business days after you join.

Q: If I visit the Zoo and join on-site, will I get reimbursed for parking?
A: No. Free parking is a member benefit. If at the time you first entered the Zoo parking lot you are not a member, we can not reimburse for parking fees. However, once you receive your membership card, just show the card to a parking attendant to get free parking for future visits.

Q: What should I do if I've lost my membership card?
A: We encourage members to replace lost or stolen cards as soon as possible. There is a $5 fee for a new card. To order another card, call 219 873-1510.

Q: Can I lend my membership card to a friend?
A: No. Memberships are nontransferable and are intended for use by individual households only.

Q: Why do I have to show a photo ID when I use my card?
A: We request a photo ID to help protect members whose cards might be lost or stolen.

Q: Is my Washington Park Zoo membership good at other zoos?
A: Yes! The Washington Park Zoo has a reciprocal agreement with hundreds of zoos throughout the country.

Q: Is my membership tax deductible?
A: Yes! Your membership may be considered a charitable contribution
