A Keeper for a Day Program
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a zookeeper? Here is your chance to find out; The Washington Park Zoo is now accepting applications for participants in our new Keeper for a Day Program. This program allows you to shadow and assist keepers as they go about their days work. This is a great opportunity to get an up close and personal view of what it takes to become a Zookeeper.
There is a fee of $40.00 per day and participants must be a minimum of 13 years of age.
It is required that all participants wear appropriate clothing for the experience which includes, sturdy shoes or boots, dressing for the outdoor weather and getting dirty. This program is not recommended for those who are allergic to hay, dust or animals.

Explorer Scouts
The WPZ hosts a Zoo Explorer Scouts Post, where young men and women ages 14 to 20 who have graduated the 8th grade can be members. As members they participate in zoo activities and assist in the operations of the zoo. They earn a zoo explorer shirt by participation in the zoo post program.
Zoo Snooze- Sleepover Program
Zoo Snooze is a summertime campout, complete with tent that is fun and educational and an overnight family event on zoo grounds. Zoo Staff monitor campers and present education programs with live animals, prepare a campfire hotdog dinner and smores marshmallow roast, conduct the night time Flashlight Safari Tour around the zoo. The following morning a continental breakfast is provide by a local fast food restaurateur.
