Per Ordinance No. 4507 adopted March 19, 2019 - Appointments. The Commission shall be composed of thirteen (13) members (nine voting and four non-voting) to be appointed as follows – a.  Two (2) whom shall be appointed by the Mayor, one of these appointments shall initially be for only one year – (one must be an active member of an environmental organization); b. Two (2) whom shall be appointed by the Common Council, one of these appointments shall initially be for only one year (one must be an active member of an environmental organization; c. One (1) who shall be appointed by the Economic Development Corporation of Michigan City (EDCMD); d. Four (4) who shall be appointed by the Sustainability Commission, one (1) of these appointments shall initially be for only one year; and e. Four (4) student members who shall be appointed by the principal of each of the following schools:  Michigan City High School, Marquette High School, Barker Middle School and Kreuger Middle School.  To be eligible to serve as a member, the individual must live in the Michigan City area.  TERMS:  Members shall be appointed for terms of (2) two years each, except for those initially appointed for only one (1) year and shall serve no more than three (3) consecutive terms except that any individual appointed to fill a vacancy shall serve only for the unexpired term of the member whom they shall succeed unless they are reappointed.  Compensation – all members shall serve without compensation.

Meetings: 4:30 PM on the second Thursday of the month at City Hall.
