The Sanitary Board consists of up to four members, appointed to four-year terms by the Mayor. The City Engineer serves by virtue of his/her office. A salary of $3,600 is paid annually to appointees for sitting on this board.
Meetings: 4:00 PM on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Michigan City Wastewater Treatment Facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Sanitary Board is given the custody, administration, operation and maintenance of the sewage disposal and treatment plant of the City, together with all appurtenances, intercepting sewers, and necessary real estate, leases, franchises, easements and property rights necessary for the complete and efficient operation of the sewage disposal and treatment plant.
